A full castle sounds like a huge project, but scaled down to an 11x11 footprint it’s a weekend build, not a server-defining one — and it still reads unmistakably as a castle from a distance.
Step 1: Lay the foundation and outer wall
Mark out an 11x11 square and lay a cobblestone foundation one block down, then build the outer wall up 5 blocks in stone brick. Leave a 2-wide gap in the centre of one wall for the gatehouse entrance.
Step 2: Build the four corner towers
At each corner, build a circular or octagonal tower 3 blocks wide, rising to 9 blocks — taller than the connecting walls so they stand out on the skyline. Add a couple of iron-bar “windows” partway up each one.
Step 3: Add battlements
Top the outer walls with alternating raised stone brick blocks (crenellations) around the full perimeter. This is the single detail that makes a build read as “castle” rather than “fort.”
Step 4: Build the gatehouse
Frame the entrance gap with stone brick, add a door, and build a small raised section directly above it — even a single extra block of height above the gate makes the entrance feel intentional rather than just a hole in the wall.
Step 5: Add a small central keep
In the middle of the courtyard, build a compact 3x3 or 4x4 keep — this is the “final boss room” of the castle and doesn’t need to be large to feel like the heart of the build. A pointed stone brick stair roof finishes it off.
Step 6: Light it and finish
Place torches inside each tower and the keep so nothing spawns indoors, and consider a couple of exterior torches flanking the gate for a welcoming (and mob-proof) entrance.
