Surviving your first night is easy once you know the trick. Surviving the first month is a different problem — it’s about systems, not moments.

Food first

A stack of bread or a couple of farmland plots of wheat will outlast any amount of hunting. Set up a small farm early so food stops being a recurring emergency.

Defend, don’t just react

Torches aren’t just light — they stop mobs spawning nearby entirely. Ring your base and any path you walk regularly, and most mob problems disappear before they start.

Manage your inventory, don’t hoard

New players tend to keep everything “just in case.” Chests are cheap — sort your cobblestone, wood, and food into labelled chests early, and resource management stops being a chore.
